2017 is a year to be remembered as 420 aspiring police officers took their oath last February 1 to begin their six-month training at Boot Camp in Upper Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City. This batch, composed of 300 males and120 females who successfully passed all the test during the recruitment process, is excited to make the first step.
The rain poured heavily when we arrived at Boot Camp, but that did not deter us from focusing our ears to whatever command our immediate supervisor wanted us to do.
So this is it, our first day as recruits! The day when we begin to leave behind our civilian lifestyle.
The first week was the adjustment period. The place is not too friendly since there is no enough water to use. The most challenging part is the absence of comfort rooms! The training is very rigid, but it pales badly every time this call of nature thingy strikes and you can’t run directly to the toilet because there is none. You have to look around for the best spot “na mapaglalabasan ng sama ng loob”!
Aside from that, every morning and sometimes afternoon and evening exercises really tested our patience and unity as a class. Murmurs in the rank abound every time our trainers say “add 5, 10 or even 15”. The worst part is when they shout “Back to Zero!” so exhausting, but we have to follow the order.
What keeps us standing is the thought that the pain and exhaustion that we are experiencing would be nothing compared to the ecstasy that we will be savoring on graduation day. This is our life in training.
So let’s keep on fighting, Class SIDLAKAS! Because soon we will be at the frontline serving and protecting our communities.
Everybody, TSON! (Attention)!!!
